Financial Partners Credit Union Donates $5,000 toward Science Education
DOWNEY, Calif. (March 28, 2016) – Kids are our future and there is a real need to expose them to STEM careers at an early age. Financial Partners Credit Union is proud to have sponsored the second annual “Big Science Fest,” the Los Angeles area’s largest science festival. The event took place on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the Columbia Memorial Space Center (CMSC) in Downey, Calif. and was part of CMSC’s “City of STEM” event celebrating science, technology, engineering and math.
Big Science Fest is a fun-filled educational day for kids and adults, with interactive exhibits, rocket launches, and other special activities, free admission made possible by Financial Partners Credit Union. The focus of the event is to open kids up to some of the careers in science they may not normally be exposed to in school.
Ben Dickow, Executive Director of the Columbia Memorial Space Center said, “The City of STEM this year couldn’t have happened without the support of Financial Partners. The whole idea of City of STEM is to bring the community together around Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Financial Partners makes a lot of sense to be our partner because they are a community based organization that has been in Downey for nearly 80 years, and that speaks to our mission of igniting a community of critical and creative thinkers. Can’t thank Financial Partners enough for their support.”
